Why a wheel, not a box

Insights Discovery doesn't put you in one of four boxes. Your unique mix is plotted on a 72-position Insights Wheel that captures the proportion of each colour energy and whether you are more Introverted or Extraverted. Two people with the same dominant colour can still sit in very different positions on the wheel — which is why a profile feels personal rather than generic.

    Frequently asked questions

What are the four colour energies in Insights Discovery?▾

Insights Discovery is built on four colour energies — Fiery Red, Sunshine Yellow, Earth Green and Cool Blue. Every person has all four in different proportions; the unique mix is what shapes how you think, decide and relate to others.

Where do the four colour energies come from?▾

The model is grounded in the work of Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung, in particular his theory of psychological type. Andi and Andy Lothian translated Jung's framework into the four-colour language used by Insights® so it can be understood and applied quickly inside teams and organisations.

What is my dominant colour energy?▾

Your dominant colour is the one you draw on most naturally, often without thinking. Most people also have a strong secondary colour and a 'least preferred' colour they have to consciously stretch into. You discover your exact percentages through the Insights Discovery Evaluator and a personal profile.

Can my colour energies change over time?▾

Your core preferences are stable, but how you express them shifts with context, role and life stage. Most people learn to develop their less-preferred colours as they grow into leadership.

How do colour energies help a team?▾

When a team shares a common language for difference, miscommunication drops sharply. People stop reading bad intent into other styles and start using each other's strengths — which is exactly what a debriefed team workshop is designed to unlock.
